Edition D'Or & Spéciale
Exclusive and Unique
When the finest and most significant stamp collections in the world are once again released into the philatelic cycle through the Heinrich Köhler auctions, the international philatelic community celebrates an event of truly special importance. During the detailed auctioning of these fascinating and often spectacular treasures — many of which have not been offered for decades — intense bidding battles unfold worldwide. In short: pure excitement and drama, whether in the auction room, by telephone, or online via live bidding.
Passing Collections on to Future Generations
The other side of the coin: a collection composed over many years with deep expertise and often significant financial commitment — always far more than the sum of its parts — is dispersed, and its individual items travel to new philatelic homes around the world. To preserve and pass on the greatest stamp collections of our time to future generations of collectors, the auction houses Heinrich Köhler and Corinphila launched their exclusive and unique EDITION series in 2006.
Honouring Philatelic Lifework
Even in the legendary Kohl Handbook — the extensive encyclopaedia of philatelic expert knowledge from the 1920s and 1930s — the excellent presentations of certain collecting areas were based on the virtuoso collections of the great philatelists of that era. For example, the magnificent Great Britain section was built upon the outstanding collection of J. B. Seymour, and the Canada section on the exceptional material of Alfred F. Lichtenstein. However, the handbook did not present these specific collections themselves, either in content or appearance; instead, it provided an overarching depiction of the stamp issues and postal history of each country.
Although philatelic lifework formed the foundation for certain sections of the Kohl Handbook, these collections were ultimately not documented there for posterity. And this is precisely the purpose of the EDITION series of the Global Philatelic Network. Here, we present the outstanding stamp collections of exceptional philatelists with brilliant illustrations and insightful descriptions, while at the same time providing a well-founded introduction to each collecting area — an essential resource for philatelic experts and connoisseurs!
Experience shows that these highly sought-after reference works sell out quickly. Don’t miss the opportunity to secure these unique publications.
